HMLC Transition and Trial Options
A gentle start. A confident next step.
The Hearts and Minds Learning Community understands that choosing the right school fit, and the right pace, matters deeply for children and families. Our transition and trial options are designed to provide flexible, supportive pathways that allow students to enter, explore and grow into their school experience with confidence.
“Light precedes every transition. Whether at the end of a tunnel, through a crack in the door or the flash of an idea, it is always there, heralding a new beginning.”
– Theresa Tsalaky, author
BRIDGE ENROLLMENT
Bridge Enrollment offers families a gradual, confidence-building entry into the Hearts and Minds Learning Community.
Mixed-age kindergarten students have options for two-, three- and five-days per week, as the are ready.
For elementary and early middle students, families can start with our two-day-per-week homeschool hybrid model and either remain in that structure or transition to full-time, five-day enrollment over time.
This flexible pathway allows children to build comfort, relationships and stamina in a supportive environment.
From first days to full confidenceHOMESCHOOL HYBRID PROGRAM
connection and flexibilityHMLC’s Homeschool Hybrid program provides a two-days-per-week, in-person, screen-free learning experience that complements a family’s homeschool curriculum for ages 6+.
Students benefit from small-group instruction, collaborative projects, hands-on learning and meaningful peer interaction while continuing their primary academic work at home.
Teachers provide enrichment, targeted academic support and guidance with challenging subjects, creating a balanced “best of both worlds” experience: community and structure at school, flexibility and customization at home.
WHO BENEFITS FROM HMLC’S FLEXIBLE ENROLLMENT OPTIONS?
These options are ideal for families new to schooling, younger children building confidence and independence, homeschooling families seeking community and enrichment and homeschoolers gradually transitioning toward a more traditional school setting.
They also serve families who want social connection and collaborative learning opportunities without immediately committing to a full five-day schedule.
HOW FAMILIES TYPICALLY TRANSITION TO FULL-TIME
Many families begin with two days per week to establish routines, relationships and academic rhythm.
As children grow in confidence, independence, and readiness, they often expand to three days (where available) and eventually move into full-time, five-day enrollment.
Transitions are individualized and thoughtfully paced, ensuring each child moves forward when they feel secure, capable, and prepared for the next step.
Flexible starts, strong foundations.
