HMLC Summer Camp Policies

  • Yes. Camp HMLC programs are offered on a weekly basis. Sign up for one week or multiple weeks.

  • Camp HMLC is $300/week.

    A $50 deposit is required to reserve your child’s space. The deposit will be applied to your first invoice.

  • Camp HMLC has programs for:

    • Ages 3-5

    • Ages 6-10

    • Ages 11-14

    Camp HMLC is not a childcare program and we do not have the facilities or personnel to perform diaper changes, so we ask that all learners be using the toilet reasonably reliably. Disposable training pants (such as Pull-Ups or similar) are fine.

  • Summer camp programs are five days/week, Monday - Friday,

    Week 2 - June 8-12 - Mystical Realms and Magic school

    NO CAMP June 15-19

    Week 3 - June 22-26 - Spy School

    NO CAMP June 29-July 3

    Week 4 - July 6-10 - Bricks and Builds LEGO Week

    Week 5 - July 13-17 - Around the World Week

    Week 6 - July 20-24 - Totally Retro 90s Week

    Week 7 - July 27-31 - Theater Week

    Week 8 - Aug. 3-7 - Arts and Crafts Week

    Week 9 - Aug. 10-14 - Time Travelers Academy

    Week 10 - Aug 17-21 - Adventure Quest Week

  • Summer programs take place at our southwest Minneapolis location on Diamond Lake. THERE WILL NOT BE SWIMMING OR PLAYING IN THE LAKE.

  • No, Camp HMLC is a screen-free environment. Kids’ phones and electronic devices are not allowed at camp.

  • If your child has a mental or behavioral health diagnosis (or known mental or behavioral health challenges) or has a history of physically running away from adults or groups into unsafe situations outside of safety boundaries (i.e. running into the street despite being aware of safety rules and being asked to stop), we ask that families connect with Camp HMLC administrators to discuss before enrolling in camp.

    Every child and every situation is different, so we may be able to accommodate your family safely in a way that fully supports your child.

    However, we are a very small organization and are unable to provide dedicated, one-on-one support, such as individual support specialists.

    Please discuss with us first and we can let you know if the Camp HMLC program is a good fit for your family’s needs. ‍

  • Camp HMLC programming is designed to take place outdoors and as much time will be spent outdoors as long as the weather allows.

    When there is extreme heat, inclimate weather or dangerous outdoor air quality, we will utilize HMLC’s indoor spaces.

  • Camp HMLC operates under a community care model: We have a number of children and adults in our program who are immune compromised and have high-risk medical conditions. At this time, masks are required for all adults and children during any time indoors. All learners must reliably be able to wear a mask, when necessary.

    Masks are optional for children outdoors based on learner and family preference.

    All participating children are required to be up to date on all available vaccines (including measles, flu and COVID) at the time of participation.

    If your child is medically exempt from one or more vaccines, they are still eligible to participate. We are ONLY able to offer medical exemptions and require a doctor’s note to confirm.

  • Deposits for summer programming are non-refundable.

    • Families needing to cancel their summer programming reservation may do so 30 days in advance and receive a 75 percent refund.

    • Families cancelling 15-29 days in advance may receive a 50% refund.

    • Families cancelling 8-14 days in advance may receive a 25% refund.

    • We are not able to provide a refund for anyone cancelling 7 days or fewer in advance of their scheduled week(s).
