HMLC Summer Programs

HMLC summer programs are offered on a weekly basis. Sign up for one week or multiple weeks.

HMLC offers two groups of summer programs: One for ages 3-6, another for ages 6-10. Please see below for information on how to choose a space for your 6-year-old. *

Programming is $275/week. If your family signs up for multiple weeks, you will receive a discounted rate of $250/week. A sibling discount of 10% is available for multiple children (either in the same age group or in different age groups). Only one discount per family may be chosen (either the multi-week discount OR the sibling discount).
These are small group classes, so space is very limited. A $50 deposit is required to reserve summer programming space. This deposit will be applied to your first invoice.

*IF YOUR CHILD IS AGE 6 - we offer the option for families to choose whether you feel your child will feel most comfortable with a younger group of children or an older group of children.

If your 6-year-old is not used to being in groups of children, is still in kindergarten or learns more comfortably at a kindergarten level, we recommend you choose the age 3-6 program.

If your 6-year-old is accustomed to being in groups of children, is used to spending time with older children and is in first grade or learns most comfortably at a first-grade level (or beyond), we recommend you choose the 6-10 program.

Summer programs at HMLC begin June 10, 2024.

Each HMLC summer fun program is five days - $275/week.

Summer programs are five days/week - Monday - Friday, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Summer programs take place at our southwest Minneapolis location on Diamond Lake.

HMLC mixed-age summer programming is open to children ages 3-10. HMLC is not a childcare program and we do not have the facilities or personnel to perform diaper changes, so we ask that all learners be using the toilet reasonably reliably. Disposable training pants (such as Pull-Ups or similar) are fine.

HMLC programming is designed to take place outdoors and as much time will be spent outdoors as weather conditions allow.

HMLC operates under a community care model: We have a number of children and adults in our community who are immune compromised and have high-risk medical conditions. At this time, masks are required for all adults and children during any time indoors. All learners must reliably be able to wear a mask, when necessary. Masks are optional for children outdoors based on learner and family preference.

All participating children are required to be up to date on all vaccines (including flu, measles and COVID) at the time of participation. Medical exemptions only (physician’s note required).

Due to our small class sizes, space is extremely limited. Register today!

NOTE: If your child has a physical disability, a mental or behavioral health diagnosis (or known mental or behavioral health challenges) or has a history of physically running away from adults or groups into unsafe situations outside of safety boundaries (i.e. running into the street despite being aware of safety rules and being asked to stop), please CONTACT US before registering.

Every child and every situation is different, so we may be able to accommodate your family safely in a way that fully supports them. However, we are a very small organization and are unable to provide dedicated, one-on-one support. Please discuss with us first and we can let you know if the HMLC summer program is a good fit.

If you have a child ages 11-13 and are interested in them attending one or more weeks of summer programming with HMLC, please CONTACT US. If we have enough interest for that age group, we may be able to put together a week or two of summer programming for the ‘tween group.
